After all, this is the guy who rented out the home of the San Francisco Giants to pop the question. So what did the rapper give his bride-to-be for the holidays?
A Hermes Birkin bag, of course. But not just any Birkin — a massive one hand-painted just for Kim by renowned artist George Condo. It's a surrealist nude image that's sure to turn heads, and it did just that when she and Kanye took it for a test drive during a shopping trip on Thursday in Woodland Hills, California.
Condo's work can be found in museums throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim in New York City, as well as venues throughout Paris, Barcelona, and more. His relationship with Kanye goes back to 2010, when West commissioned him to create five different covers for his album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy." Several of those covers also featured nudity, and were famously banned from some retailers, including Walmart and even Apple's iTunes store.
At the time, the artist found the controversy around the images to be surprising. "The superimposition of people's perceptions on a cartoon is shocking," he told Vulture. "What's happening in their minds should be banned. Not the painting."
That wasn't the only lavish gift Kim received this holiday season. The reality star shared several photos of fancy, couture clothing given to her for baby North West, including goods from Stella McCartney, Giuseppe Zanotti, and, of course, Hermes.
