Heaven Welcomed A Legend Today Maya Angelou

The Greatest Literary Mind Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou one of the greatest literary minds in our time passed today in her Winston- Salem North Carolina home at the tender age of 86. She has literally created a legacy that can and will be celebrated by our children's children. From literary works, to civil rights accomplishments Maya angelou has literally been the queen of literary greatness for years.

Poems by Maya Angelou include "Still I rise", "The Lesson", "Phenomenal Woman" just to name a few. She also wrote autobiographies such as "Caged Bird"She delivered a poem at a presidential inauguration. Martin Luther King Jr. and inspired young adults and world celebrities.     (referenced from cnn.com)

The Life Of Maya Angelou

I do know that most of the world does not know that one of her famous poems actually was a testament to own personal life and horrors that she faced. Her lasting contribution to literature, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," bore witness to the brutality of a Jim Crow South, portraying racism in stark language. Readers learned of the life of Marguerite Ann Johnson (Angelou's birth name) up to the age of 16: how she was abandoned by her parents and raped by her mother's boyfriend. She was homeless and became a teen mother.  (referenced from cnn.com)

By using her writing as a platform, the poems by Maya Angelou shared her personal struggles and empowered women at the same time. So if you don't know who maya angelou is I would recommend that Google her. Remember self development is the best development guys. So today or tonight at some point take a second and reflect on the literature that she has provided us as people with and celebrate her legacy.

OKC Thrashes The San Antonio Spurs

OKC Thunder Schedule Vs. The Spurs

OKC Thunder schedule vs the San Antonio Spurs thanks to the help of Serge Ibaka. Serge Ibaka's one man show literally propelled the thunder to take game three last night guys. He threw in 16 points 4 huge blocks and a strong number of rebounds after he was expected to miss the rest of the playoffs with a severely strained calf muscle.

The Okc thunder training staff put him on a strict regiment of heat, ice and stem and Serge literally looked like magic on the floor last night in his return to the court. He was full of life, energy and passion something that his team lacked in games 1 and 2. Of course Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook played good games, but Serge Ibaka stole the show last night.

Checkout Serge Ibaka Helping OKC Take Home A Victory Over The Spurs

He literally went ham on the basketball court last night guys! It was like he just couldn't miss from the floor. On defense he was literally everywhere blocking and bothering shots and getting key rebounds for the Thunder last night. The thunder dominated the spurs on the glass 64 to 34 last night.

By watching the video highlights above you get the chance to see one of the best playoff performances by a player returning from an injury as of to date guys. Ibaka is definitely All-star material if you ask me guys. The spurs had no offensive answer for him or the rest of the energetic thunder team last night.

WHAT DOES GAME 4 HAVE TO OFFER SPURS AND THUNDER FANS

So what does game 4 have to offer Spurs and thunder fans you ask? All I can say is game 4 is going to be epic guys! With Ibaka back the thunder just might take game 4 as well especially with tony parker and tim duncan struggling from the floor.

If you are an OKC fan make sure you have your tickets for game 4 or make sure your jersey is washed and ready for you to wear when you watch the game on your couch. Game 4 folks is going to be worth the popcorn, hot wings and beers let's go!!

Florida's Best Kept Secret Rapper P. Butta

Well I can understand that because when people first hear the word Florida they think, strip clubs, Miami, famous celebrities and beautiful sandy beaches. However, Florida has a new up and coming artist by the name of P.Butta and he's just as interesting as the Florida that tourist flock to.

The young emcee P. Butta has a style that is literally a breathe of fresh air to the game and his flow is a mixture of originality and everyday life paired with amped up 808's and melodic symph notes. In other words he's like Florida's best keep secret and he's looking to have a breakout summer and put his home town in Illinois and Orlando Florida on the map.

A bio can literally explain all there is to know about an artist or literally make you crave to know more about an artist. I believe P. Butta's bio fuses these two things together beautifully guys. So here's the main meat of who P. Butta is and where he's from.

24 year old hip hop artist P-Butta hails from Illinois but located in the Orlando Fl area. First started experiencing with music by the age of 12 and has been progressing ever since. From Chicago Heights, IL and brought up in Bloomington/Normal, IL, P-Butta has been recording and performing to perfect his craft along with his team. Also apart of The 44 Clique including JayArUh, Metane, and Keino they all have been collectively pursuing music from the start. There seems to be no limit to how far he can go. The sky is the limit.

You Hear It First P. Butta Music

So enough hype on the man P. Butta, you get to hear it first guys here's your chance to checkout P. Butta's music. With his track filled YouTube channel and a well put together Reverbnation page it's your choice of which one you want to check out first. Listen to some of his tracks from his YouTube channel below by clicking on his picture guys.

P. Butta Interview

Now for the moment you guys have been waiting for, my great interview with rapper P. Butta. This young guy is literally humble and focused with the will to make people listen to his music and style. Checkout his interview below guys.

1. Where did the name P.Butta come from?
It came from my cousin he gave it to me when I got older. When I was younger my friends called me peanut and then my cousin Rueben shout out to Reuben just called me butta one day. Then I talked to one of my OG's and he said "I heard that they call you butta" I said yea man".
He said "I like that name butta because it's smooth because it's good to stay smooth because slick will get you messed up". Where I'm from everybody has a nickname man, nobody picks their nickname it's given to them.

2. At 24 years old you can be doing anything in the world right now so why have you chosen to pursue a music career?
Well to be honest I've been doing this since I was a young one, like 12 I started rapping and at 13 I released my first CD. In high School I did a talent show with my homeboy Metane and we won it. Afterwards, a lot of people showed us love ,the love I get from doing music has me hooked man I just can't explain it man. I blame my mother because she got me hooked on music when I was little man.
The love that people show me encourages me to keep making music and releasing cd's.

3. Florida is filled with hip hop artists and one of the music industries mecca's of the country what makes your music standout?
I feel like with me it's a feel to where I just bring something different. To me I feel like when people try to compare me to someone they are going to have to compare me to someone that makes great music and stature. I have my own swagger and my own style, so people can't really compare me to anyone else. I make the best music that represents me.

I'm not a gangsta so you will never hear me make music about that, so what you hear represents me. So therefore I can only give you what you see and what you hear and that's just me.

4. Every artist has a goal that they are grinding to get to what's your goal just give me major one.
I just want to be great man and I mean if I can make somebodies day in a song that great. If I can lift somebody's spirit by giving them a shout out in a song then that's great. I would rather do a show and make somebodies day then brag about stuff that I don't have.

I can't say I won't change I pray to God I won't but I just pray I stay true to myself and the music I make.

5. What is in your opinion holding you back from being heard by music lovers all over the country?
hmmm.. I don't know man umm that's a good question. I mean given the fact of today's music and time everything is different and the vast majority of people cling to music that plays on the radio and stuff now. People higher up only want music like what's playing on the radio right now.

Then they overlook the guys with real talent man like me, so it's kind of out of my control. I mean you have to adjust with the times. I don't just make the music that gets played in the club or that gangsta music man. I would just say not enough people have had the opportunity to hear me yet. I'm more of a versatile artists I don't just make one type of music.

6. How would you describe the state of hip hop music today?
It's umm It's in it's own, I feel like this is the first time that hip hop has it's own ways man. The 90's had their own vibe, the 80's were more happy and dance like, and now music is more new age with a collection of new breed artists. Each artist brings their own style to the game that creates different niches within hip hop.

I wouldn't say that today's artists are hurting the game I would say that rap has more melody and flava to it. I don't know if a lot of people realize it but hip hop is more profitable then it's ever been. Plus it's more relatable to all ethnic groups and walks of life, but there are some artists that are depreciating the game.

7. What do you hope to bring to the game to improve it?
Just a breathe of fresh air man to where people see a new kid on the come up that has a feel for the game rather than hurting the game. I want to hopefully be a stamp in hip hop to where my name is brought up in music discussions all over man with other famous artists.

When I say a breathe a fresh air I mean a sign of relief for people, so they can say there is a guy that can still make great music that their kids can listen to. I'm not talking about smacking broads or shooting people. I want to be that artist that other artist want to work with and respect me because of the great music that I make.

8. Where do you see yourself music wise next year?
Well obviously doing better then I am now, I want to be getting more recognition for my music. Basically I want to be on the come up, I've been the under dog all of my life but I like it because when I get to show my talent people are actually shocked.

I'm trying to see myself two steps ahead of where I am now because my team and I have been grinding for a long time man. We've been together since we were little, my homeboy JayArUh who is my engineer and producer, Metane, Keino, and Bird. FTGU From The Ground Up Music Group.

I just want people to check me out on http://www.ftgumusicgroup.com/ my official website and to cop my album when it releases on May 30, 2014 also called "Lost Time". NY'S Thrilla In Manilla Rapper St. Laz

NYC's Thrilla In Manilla Rapper St. Laz

NYC's Thrilla In Manilla Rapper St. Laz is that hip hop rapper that is trying to take Brownsville Brooklyn mainstream. See New York City has a ton of musically involved people and one of the most in depth hip hop cultures in the world. With multiple Burroughs that have different styles of music and fashion to artists that differ in style and delivery. For instance Harlem artists have been notoriously known to be flashy and always up to date on what's hot in the fashion world. While Brooklyn is notorious for creative punchlines and a gritty exterior and flow. St. Laz being from Brooklyn is nothing short of amazing with ear catching punchlines, a go hard or go home work ethic, and most of all a Kingpin mentality that has motivated him to expand his brand.

The Brownsville native has been making music for years and has now turned his sights on his new TV show Pottersfield TV. He has created a platform for indie and underground artists other then himself to be seen and heard on public access TV in multiple cities such as Atlanta, Manhatten, Newark just to name a few guys. He showcases music videos that underground and indie artists put together that showcase their lyrical word play, amazing delivery, and ability to create a visual for spectators who enjoy their music or who have never heard of them before. You can view an episode of Pottersfield TV show by clicking on the video  below.

St. Laz's Music Collection

St. Laz's Music Collection if filled with over 400 songs but this business minded rapper doesn't just make music to make it. He is strategic in his game plan and his goal is to get young men out of the gangsta lifestyle that caused him to do a 6 year bid in prison and lose a lot of childhood friends. His songs have some of the most versatile concepts that an artist can create guys. From gangsta music to heartfelt wisdom filled tracks he has managed to diversify his own music without any label or manager pushing him to.

With a heart for the hungry underground artist St. Laz has literally taken it upon himself to help others get in a position to get discovered. Oh! so you haven't heard any St. Laz music? No problem check out the videos provided below so that you can get a feel for the type of artist that he is. You like what you hear huh? Well you can hear much more from St. Laz by looking him up on YouTube guys.

St. Laz Interview

Now let's get to the good stuff the moment that you guys have all been waiting for. If you follow St. Laz on social media or you are a fan of real hip hop checkout my epic interview with him last night down below:

1. What Makes you different from the other New York rappers that are grinding just as hard as you are?

The biggest difference is I'm helping other indie artists while other rap cats are just focused on themselves and their career. Besides I make more music filled with substance, I rap about real life situations, I rap from the perspective of other people. I speak for a certain demographic of people that have lived the struggle, lived in the ghetto, and didn't make it out of their circumstances. I rap for the guys in prison who don't have a voice I rap for those people man. I rap to show people that hip hop is not based on a gimmick it's based on growth and unity.

I'm mature enough to separate the fake stuff in rap from actual reality. I might rap about shooting up the block, but I'm not trying to shoot up the block. I have kids and a family now, I'm focused on sharing my poetry and building up things for others. I don't know to many dudes in the rap game that actually do the gangsta stuff they rap about. That's corny to me real street dudes don't talk about what they do. A grown man wouldn't be moved by that street life anymore because that street life took away my friends, and created a chaotic and dangerous environment for me and my people.

I put out the gangsta rap to trap or lure the youth into hearing my deep shi* to help get them off the streets and out of that gangsta lifestyle. So they won't end up dead or in jail, I'm trying to show them that there is a better life outside of the ghetto. I realized that there is more to life then the hood and all of this gun play.  But there are also the same struggles with places like Paterson, and Newark and Camden in Jersey they hoods are crazy man.

2. When people in your burrough here the name St. Laz What's the first thing they say in your opinion?

I wold have so say that that kid is nice and he go hard because everything that I have put on major airwaves was quality. From Hot97 to MTV and other major outlets I made sure that my music was good quality.

3. When you originally thought of the concept of Pottersfield TV was it to promote other up and coming artists?

Umm.. we had this idea for years and at first my group and I Pottersfield wanted to play our music only and the people we affiliated with. But then I realized that I knew so many artists doing quality music that I decided to put them on to. I just started to find artists that was starving with good music and good videos. So that we can show the world that there is talent outside the mainstream music world.

My show Pottersfield TV is on public access TV where my people can exercise their right of freedom of speech. I want to make a mockery of the game and the people in the game that said there is no more talent in the streets. Right now the show is in 7 different spots right now and growing. I can put guns, and cursing and uncensored hip hop on TV. Sometimes censorship is garbage so most artists have to make safe chick or club joints now. Even to be on MTV they have to do this now I think it's corny. I'm trying to show the world that underground hip hop is where it's at.

I'm trying to create a whole other industry or league for underground emcees man. So that people can see these up and coming artists females and males. I'm looking for videos, I'm looking for the hottest artists with the hottest videos out right now. I remember back in the day great artists were easily discovered and looked for if they had a strong following, but now artists are not even being looked for. It's like nobody is looking for artists because hip hop is a billion dollar industry, nobody wants to put anyone on anymore. I don't do this for the praise I'm doing this to make hip hop fyah!

4.Where do you see yourself in the next year career wise?

I just see my self as a household name in New York City and the tri- state area. I would love to say the nation but if I can get New York then I can expand from there. I want everyone to be familiar with me and Pottersfield tv.

5. Are you interested in taking your music mainstream and signing a record deal with a label?

If I was to ever sign a record deal with a label it would have to be at a label with somebody that is apart of my movement with someone that is a hip hopologist. I need someone to understand the type of artist that I am and promote my album and my music to the fullest extent.

I live in the projects so I won't turn down that money but I will take that cake and flip that money and push my movement. See when you been down as long as I have been it's not selling out I can never sell out.

6. What were your thoughts on the whole Kendrick Lamar "I'm the King Of New York" comment in his control freestyle?

But umm overall I know that he wanted to just rile people up. I just felt like he was saying I'm the only dude with an east-coast style that is actually relevant in the game right now. I wasn't really feeling that verse or the song. I felt the song was trash I mean mediocre.

That "Control" joint wasn't hot to me it didn't impress me at all man. I mean but hey he got that promotion and became even bigger after that. You can't buy that type of promotion man. I mean nothing personal but I mean it was disrespectful because son didn't have no bars man. I didn't take it personal though. Name dropping isn't killing it that's "name dropping" man.

7. Do you agree with the rapper Maino when he said "I'm tired of cats coming to NY and disrespecting our city and our culture and we just let them get away with it, it's time to put a stop to all of that and show them that they can't come up here like that no more" and if so why?
New York is the birthplace we're the the holy city the Mecca of hip hop, don't bite the hand that fed the world. Don't come here with nothing but love.

8.What up and coming live performances do you have this year so that fans can come and check you out?

You know the summer is around the corner man but I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I have a lot of rap beef to so I don't really promote it because I don't want that type of drama following me anywhere. If I do something like that I just show up because I don't want anyone to get hurt.

Man I'm the type of dude to punch somebody in the face to so I just try to chill out man. I've stirred up a lot of stuff with diss records on dj's and other artists so man I don't promote no shows man. If I do a show I just do a show and who ever saw me they just saw me.

St. Laz is much more then meets the eye guys, and with his mind, heart, body and soul focused on being heard and having others heard he is truly amazing. He is humble and at a point in his life where he is able to admit to his past wrongs and man enough to move forward in life. He is truly one of the realest hip hop rap artists that I have had the pleasure to meet and speak with.
